Anyone got any time free?

There is a bit of a tumbleweed blowing through my blogs at the moment, as I have a few big projects happening which seem to be taking up my time, and leaving me little time to blog. I found myself wishing today that I had a time turner like Hermione in Harry Potter, or I was able to jump through time to do things over like Tim in the film "About Time". Just a few more hours in the day would be nice!

Do you have times like this - when blogging or another past time has to take a back seat?

Happy 40th Birthday to Hubby!

Hubby turns 40 this week. The impending birthday has been a hot topic in our house since he blew out the candles on his 39th Birthday cake. Thankfully he didn't wake up this morning with too many grey hairs but it's probably only a matter of time!! 50 is the new 40 apparently, so everyone has been telling him, so hopefully 40 will be a great year for him!

Happy 40th Birthday xxxx

A Family Weekend Away

Last weekend, I surprised hubby with a weekend away in Warwickshire for his big upcoming birthday. The kids came too and we stayed in a hotel in the biggest sized Suite as a special treat. We had two double beds and a little lounge area. The kids were beside themselves with excitement as we also had Sky TV with lots of kids TV Channels - many more than we have at home! There was also a swimming pool, so they were able to have fun playing in the pool too.

The weather was certainly on our side as it was a glorious weekend weather wise, and so we were able to get out and about and enjoy the sunshine for the first time in a long time.

On Saturday we visited Stratford Upon Avon. A favourite of mine as an English Lit student many years ago, it was very exciting to take eldest along to Stratford upon Avon as we both share a love of literature and she has already started reading Shakespeare plays (well the kids versions of them at least!). We visited the RSC Theatre, and saw Shakespeare's house, his school and church, and had a lovely wander around the town and along the river. It was a very interesting day and made us sure that we want to go back soon and do some more sightseeing. I would definitely recommend Stratford Upon Avon for a day out - even if you are not a huge Shakespeare fan. There are a couple of good museums for the kids, such as the Tudor Museum. You can also take boat tours along the river, and there are lots of great cafes to relax in.

On Sunday we went off to Kenilworth Castle to explore the ruins.  Owned by English Heritage, this is a great day our when the weather is good as you can take your own picnic and relax in the grounds. The ruins were amazing as some of it is so well preserved. There is also a beautiful Elizabethan Garden and a Tudor house in the grounds too. We found it so fascinating, and the kids loved it too. Youngest was in her element running around, and hubby said it was right up his street! I would definitely recommend a day out here too!

We had a fab weekend away as a family! So much so that we signed up to English Heritage membership so that we can go and explore other historic sites around the UK - roll on the summer!!

Songs from Frozen

My Girls are big fans of Disney's Frozen. I think they like it because it is a story about two sisters - just like them. Eldest has taken on the role of "Elsa" and youngest has become obsessed with "Anna". It is so interesting to see how much they have latched onto the films. They know all of the songs, they want all of the toys, they want the costumes, they even want me to do their hair like them!

Here are a couple of videos of the girls singing the songs from Frozen:

Let It Go

Do you wanna build a snowman?

Stars in the making perhaps!!
